CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A suspected robber was killed after a store manager shot him in a Calumet Heights Chicago auto parts store Saturday afternoon, Chicago police said.
Authorities said an armed man in his 30s or 40s walked into the O'Reilly Auto Parts store at 91st Street and South Stony Island Avenue about 2:30 p.m. produced a gun and demanded money from the register.
The store manager — who had a valid firearm owner identification card — shot the man, police said.
Officials said the man was transported to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Area Two detectives are investigating the shooting.
