A number of local organizations are vowing to turn out in record breaking numbers for a demonstration this spring.

This year, International Workers Day, or May Day, will coincide with the 20th anniversary of major immigration reform marches in Chicago and elsewhere.

“We’re going to keep marching and shut down this economy and this system until we make it clear that we are not criminals.”

Cook County Board Commissioner Tara Stamps says there’s no shortage of ways for Chicagoans to protest against immigration enforcement, military action in Iran, affordability issues and more on May 1st.

“Show up at rallies and marches. Organize your workplace. Support your local unions. Educate our young people about their rights and their history. Demand policies that invest in education, healthcare, housing and food security.”
