Bensenville police officer shot while responding to domestic call

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A police officer in west suburban Bensenville underwent surgery after being shot early Saturday, officials said.

The unidentified officer was wounded while responding to a domestic disturbance call around 1 a.m., Police Chief Dan Schulze said. A suspect fired multiple shots as the officer arrived on the scene, in the 100 block of South York Road.

The officer, who was hit, was taken to Loyola University Medical Center.

The suspect was taken into custody, Schulze said.

An investigation continues. No further information was immediately available.
