(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The brother of a 23-year-old man who was shot during a robbery in Lincoln Park that was captured on surveillance video says he’s making improvement.
The shooting of Dakotah Earley during an ambush robbery shocked people.
The video, showed two predators, parking around a corner after spotting him walking on a sidewalk. One got out and peeked around a building and jumped out pointing a gun. Earley tried to grab it.
The two were wrestling and the gunman shot him twice and then demanded the keycode to open his phone. A third shot was fired to his head.
“He has made so much improvement over the last few days. He is no longer on life support and is breathing on his own," his brother, Deshawn, wrote on a Go Fund Me page.
Earley is also able to speak now, according to his brother's update.
"Sometimes when he speaks it isn't clear due to his jaw, but we are so happy that he can and will speak again," Deshawn wrote.
The Go Fund Me campaign had a goal of $20,00 dollars, but over $100,000 has been raised so far.
