“Being in the Army and in the Golden Knights is very much like a family,” said SGT Nickolas Orozco.

Orozco says the time spent with his team has led to some unbreakable bonds. Orozco says his friendships are once in a lifetime — he’s the godfather of one of his team member’s daughters.

“We’ve become very close like a family. It’s an indescribable feeling,” Orozco said.

The Golden Knights have conducted more than 16,000 shows in 50 states and 48 countries. The team is composed of approximately 95 men and women. The team members have been on thousands of jumps.

“This one I think will be my 1,675 jump,” said SSG Conour Jernigan.

The team says there’s no better feeling than flying in Chicago.

“I’m so excited to jump into Chicago, I know it’s going to be a good show,” Jernigan said.

The Chicago Air and Water Show will be held on Aug. 20 and 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. The best place to view the show is from along the lakefront between Oak Street and Fullerton Avenue.
