(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Snow-deficient Chicago has had a good run this winter, but it’s over.
A winter storm watch will take effect Saturday morning for Chicagoland, with between 4 and 8 inches of snow expected.
The New Year’s Day snow storm will feature temperatures in the 20s and teens; blowing snow and dangerous travel conditions. Wind speeds could reach 40 mph, the National Weather Service said.
The storm watch expires Saturday evening.
It will be a change of pace for Chicago, which did not have any measurable snowfall this winter season until earlier this week; most of that melted.
