(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Chicago Film Archive is providing a look back at Olympic games from the past with the Marquis Ritchey Cring Collection of black-and-white home movies.

One sports highlight involves commentator Marty Glickman, who covered swimming in the Rome Olympics of 1960 — with Grace Kelly and Rock Hudson in the crowd.

“Chris von Saltza, the blonde California mermaid, leaves the rest of the field far beyond as she thrashes to victory in the 400 meter final,” Glickman says. “It’s a new Olympic record of 4:50.6 but under Chris’ world mark.”

The collections contain a wide variety of Olympics-related films from the past century, including the 1932 Los Angeles Summer Olympics and the 1976 Montreal Olympics.

The full collection can be seen online.
