Chicago firefighter's child dies in Tuesday's NW Side house fire: Medical Examiner

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - One of the victims of this week’s house fire in the Montclare neighborhood has died.

Officials said 7-year-old Ezra Stewart who was rescued from the fire in the 2500 block of N. Rutherford Tuesday night died last night at Loyola University Medical Center. The boy’s 34-year-old mother and 2 and 7-year-old sisters are said to be in critical condition at Stroger Hospital.

The woman’s husband and the children’s father is a Chicago firefighter who was at work when the accidental fire began in their kitchen.

The fire department said he was driven to the fire by a battalion chief and actually performed CPR on his wife.
