CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police warned residents on the city's Northwest Side about a string of armed robberies that have taken place over the past few months.
At least 5 of those robberies happened less than two blocks apart on Paulina Street and Ashland Avenue in Wicker Park.
Police said in each incident the victim was walking when three men with guns approached and demanded the victim's belongings.
The victims told investigators they were also punched or slapped after being robbed.
According to police, the first armed robbery happened Sept. 11 near Paulina Street and Milwaukee Avenue — about one block northwest of the CTA Blue Line Division station — at 3:30 in the morning.
The robbers then struck at least four more times near Ashland Avenue and Division Street between Sept. 18 and Oct. 23. Those robberies all occurred between 2 – 4:05 a.m., with the suspects getting away in a black Chrysler 300.
