(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Lightfoot Administration is soliciting ideas for reimagining downtown LaSalle Street as a place that includes affordable housing among other things.
Under a new initiative called LaSalle Reimagined, the administration is asking for plans to bring more than 1,000 homes, including 300 affordable units, to the distinctive LaSalle Corridor.
This could hopefully help revive an area that has seen rising vacancy rates.
“It envisions revitalizing not just the commercial spaces, but really making it a liveable neighborhood,” Lightfoot said Monday of the plan.
City government would offer financial assistance to qualifying proposals, officials said.
