CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Two teenagers were hospitalized in a drive-by shooting Thursday afternoon near the Illinois Institute of Technology’s campus, Chicago police said.
Police said a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy were walking down the 3000 block of South Wabash Avenue about 4 p.m. when a gray Chevy Impala drove up. Officials said the alleged shooters exited the car and opened fire on the teenagers.
The 16-year-old was shot in the arm and taken to Northwestern Hospital in good condition.
A Chicago police spokesperson said the 17-year-old was shot in his side and taken to University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition.
No offenders are in custody. Area Three detectives are investigating the shooting.
