Driver strikes, kills 67-year-old cyclist on Southwest Side: CPD

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A man was killed after being hit by a car while riding his bicycle Saturday night in Chicago’s Garfield Ridge neighborhood on the Southwest Side, Chicago police said.

Police said a 32-year-old driver was turning left onto Natchez Avenue from 57th Street when he hit a cyclist. It happened around 9:30 p.m.

The biker was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, the victim was a 67-year-old man from that Southwest Side area.

Chicago police said citations are expected against the driver.
