(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A taste of Japan can be found on Chicago's South Side.
Cameron Jackson is a co-founder of Koto Hibachi, 258 W. 31st St.,
“It’s like hibachi, but carry-out style,” he explained Friday on the Noon Business Hour. “If you don’t like going out to the restaurant and sitting next to a family that you don’t know, or a guy trying to squirt sake in your mouth, you should probably come to our restaurant.
“It takes the song and dance out of hibachi.”
That gives his team more time to focus on quality Japanese cuisine, Jackson says. The South Side has lacked an outlet for this style of food.
“We saw a void in the inner South Side of the city, and we found a great location near Comiskey, or where the White Sox play. And we just couldn’t miss the opportunity.”
There are a relative handful of tables at the restaurant, with the operation mostly geared toward people who are carrying away their meals.
