CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A male motorist is dead after reports of an expressway shooting at the inbound lanes of I-290 Tuesday morning, Illinois state police said.
Illinois state troopers responded around 11:45 a.m. to a report of a shooting on 290 near Cicero Avenue, and an injured man was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A woman at the scene refused treatment and self-transported to a hospital for her injuries, state police said.
Traffic was diverted as authorities investigated. All lanes were reopened by 2 p.m.
No further information was available, but an investigation was ongoing, police said.
