CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police are interviewing witnesses and checking surveillance video in order to track down the person responsible for killing three people and wounding a fourth person outside a Northwest Side bar over the weekend.
According to police, the shooting happened after a fight inside Vera’s Lounge at the corner of Central Avenue and School Street early Sunday morning.
Eyewitness Oscar Ortiz told CBS 2 he knew one of the people killed: 50-year-old Ricky Vera, whose daughter was involved in the dispute.
“This man was arguing with [Vera’s] daughter,” Ortiz said. “He came out and said, ‘Hey, you know, that’s my daughter,’ and he just turned to him and he walked to the car, came back and shot him, point-blank.”
Vera’s daughter was shot in the head and was last reported in critical condition. Two of her friends were killed.
They’ve been identified as 26-year-old Mario Pozuelos, of Franklin Park, and 24-year-old Mercedes Tavares, of Chicago Heights.
