ORLAND PARK (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Federal agents are investigating an armored car heist that happened in the southwest suburbs over the weekend.

The FBI said the armored car robbery took place Saturday afternoon outside the Xfinity store at 142nd Street just east of LaGrange Road. There were four suspects. Three got out of a SUV with semiautomatic weapons and forced the armored car driver into the truck. They took bags of money. The robbers then got back into the SUV and took off.

Orland Park  police said they’re working with the FBI due to a possible connection to a string of similar hold ups in the region.

The FBI said people can report tips to the agency, even anonymously, by calling 312-421-6700 or submitting online at tips.fbi.gov.
