Firefighter injured while battling Chinatown fire: CFD

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A fire in Chinatown had Chicago fire crews busy for several hours Saturday nightst and resulted in an injury to a firefighter.

Crews responded a little before 9 p.m. to a three-story building near the Dan Ryan Expressway, at 23rd and Wentworth with flames shooting from the first floor, a CFD spokesperson said. The smoke could be seen miles away. The worst of the fire was on the first floor, home of a commercial store. The other two floors consist of offices and apartments.

CFD said one firefighter was transported to an area hospital, suffering minor lacerations.

No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was not known.
