Five people shot – 2 fatally – in Englewood, officials say

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Five people were shot – two fatally – in Englewood Thursday evening, authorities said.

Chicago police say two suspects exited a vehicle around 5:30 p.m. and began firing at a group of people in the 600 block of West 61st Place before fleeing.

Two male victims – a 19-year-old and 26-year-old – were taken to University of Chicago Medicine, where they were pronounced dead, police said.

Two other males, both struck in the arm, were transported to hospitals and were in good condition. A 26-year-old woman was also hit in the arm; her condition was not known.

No suspects were in custody, police said.
