(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Gary, Indiana gun shop that’s been involved in litigation with Chicago over alleged straw purchases of firearms has announced it is closing.

A social media post by Westforth Sports thanks customers for “66 years of patronage” and announced a “retirement sale.”

Some customers said it’s sad, while others congratulated owner Earl Westforth on his retirement.

A judge recently made a ruling in the store’s favor in a case brought by the city of Chicago, saying the city had no standing.

Previously, the Chicago Police Department said the shop was the third-largest supplier of guns used in crimes in Chicago.
