(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — An armed man was arrested Friday in Lake County after threatening to kill his family members.

49-year-old RB Warrens, of unincorporated Grayslake, was reported by a family member to have threatened to kill his family — and to shoot anyone who tried to remove him from his home.

Warrens was also reported to be anti-government and to have an arsenal of firearms.

Concerned that a shootout might pose a high risk to the community, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office obtained a firearms restraining order, a search warrant, and arrest warrant.

They surveilled Warrens until he left his home, and they took him into custody during a traffic stop.

The Sheriff’s office noted that Warrens was noncompliant with the arrest. K-9 Dax was deployed after Warrens reached abruptly into his clothing. Dax bit him in the arm, and Warrens was placed into custody.

A loaded pistol was found in the area he had been reaching. Dozens of firearms were retrieved from his home.

Based on the placement of the firearms in Warrens' home, the sheriff's office said it was "clear" that Warrens was preparing for a shootout with law enforcement.
