Illinois reports 7,178 new COVID-19 cases, 57 additional deaths

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — State health officials on Sunday reported 7,178 new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases in Illinois, including 57 additional deaths.

The Illinois Department of Public Health currently is reporting a total of 720,114 cases, including 12,193 deaths. On Sunday, 62,740 COVID-19 tests had been administered for a total 10,431,018. On Wednesday, the total number of coronavirus tests in Illinois surpassed 10 million coronavirus.


As of Saturday night, 5,858 in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19.  Of those, 1,185 patients were in the intensive care unit and 723 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from Nov. 22 through Nov. 28 is 10.1%.  The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from Nov. 22 through Nov. 28 is 12.1%.
