JOLIET, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A former Joliet Catholic school teacher accused of inappropriate contact with a minor has been located by police in the care of a local hospital.
According to Joliet police, the attorney for 44-year-old Jeremy Hylka has said that Hylka will turn himself in once released from the hospital.
A warrant was issued for his arrest on Thursday, one day after Joliet police learned of a Snapchat video depicting possible inappropriate contact between an adult and a minor.
Police said a 19-year-old man with no law enforcement ties posed as a 15-year-old ensnared Hylka into online correspondence.
At this time, it's unclear why Hylka was admitted to the hospital. The police said the time and date of his release from the hospital are unknown.
A Catholic school teacher and youth counselor has been fired by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Joliet and is now being sought by police for alleged misconduct with a minor.
