
JOLIET, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Voters in Joliet have decided to go in a different direction and have replaced their current mayor.
Terry D'Arcy defeated two- term Mayor Bob O'Dekirk in Joliet. D'Arcy won just under 61% of the votes in Will and Kendall Counties while O'Dekirk pulled in 29.5%. Tycee Bell had 9%.
D'Arcy promised to tackle the issues of crime, pollution and traffic. The latest issue is a big one, especially when it comes to talk about the NorthPoint development warehouse complex and all the truck traffic that will involve.
D'Arcy tells the Chicago Tribune that he received a concession call from O'DeKirk and said his first order of business will be to work with the City Council to look at candidates for city manager.
O’Dekirk will have served two terms as mayor.
