CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Even as she celebrated the passage of her $16.7 billion budget, Mayor Lori Lightfoot wasn't sparing her City Council critics from her apparent annoyance.
There were 15 no-votes on Mayor Lightfoot's budet. Alderman David Moore, who cast one of them, reportedly told a journalist he would have voted "yes" if the mayor supported a $6 million project in his ward.
Mayor Lightfoot would not say if that is what they talked about Wednesday on the council floor, but suggested that he could have asked her earlier.
"There's plenty of time for those conversations to be had. He voted 'no' on everything, and he will have to explain to his community why he didn't support affordable housing, support for homelessness, support for mental health, small businesses," Lightfoot said.
On another matter, Mayor Lightfoot was asked about Friday's planned committee meeting, called by aldermen who want to repeal her vaccine mandate for city workers.
"What I think is that today is a day for celebration and we will deal with the politics another time," Lightfoot said.
And that is all she would say on that.
