CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Lollapalooza will take over Grant Park through Sunday evening. There are a few things people ought to know, whether they’re going to the festival or not.

The event draws about 100,000 people a day and with that come challenges for everyone.

Traffic
With all the closures and all the people, there can be gridlock in the area. Public transportation is highly recommended.

Safety
As with any major event, there will be a large police presence.
Recent events like the Highland Park Parade shooting have police on high alert. The park will be heavily covered by cameras, as well. Bags will be searched at the entrances, with a long list of prohibited items. Check the website.

Health
Don’t go if you have COVID.  You can get a refund if you test positive.  There will be drugs, that’s a given. And with all the fentanyl going around,  festival goers are being warned, buying drugs at the event could be deadly.

Police also may have their work cut out for them during after hours, with so many people downtown and attending after-shows.
