CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor Lori Lightfoot was booed at a fundraiser Sunday for Plumbers Union Local 130, according to a guest at the event.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the attendee wished to remain anonymous and said that Lightfoot spoke very briefly and then what followed was a "resounding booing throughout the room". The anonymous source also told the Sun-Times that plumbers from the union were calling her names.

Ironically, Plumbers Union Local 130 was the first union to endorse Lightfoot in the 2019 runoff election against Toni Preckwinkle. Several officials from the union disputed the claim saying if there was any booing it was not union members.
The union's Business Manager Jim Coyne introduced the mayor at the fundraiser held at Plumbers Hall, 1340 W. Washington St. with about 1,000 guests present.
“I did not hear any booing,” he told the Sun-Times. “That’s kind of impossible at Plumbers Hall. She’s loved by the plumbers. People wanted to get in line and take pictures with her."
Lightfoot's political director also said he didn't believe she was booed at the event, but acknowledged that there may have been a few people present that were being loud and negative.
