CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police said weapons and drugs were recovered from a Jeep involved in pursuit on the South Side Wednesday night that ended with an aerial rescue.
The summary of the incident put out by police said, “Auto Accident, SWAT, Traffic Pursuit.”
A 30-year-old man driving a Jeep was pursued by police from 43rd and King Drive onto the Dan Ryan, where the Jeep hit several cars and the man bailed out.
The man jumped from an expressway ramp near 18th Street and landed on top of support pillars. The fire department brought a ladder truck.
Officers and firefighters eventually got the man loaded into a stretcher and brought him down.
This witness spoke to CBS-2.
"Clearly, we saw him get put in the ambulance. He had a neck brace on – lying flat," the witness said. "So, I don't know if it was the jump or something else, but clearly, he was quite injured," a witness told CBS-2.
He was taken to Stroger Hospital.
Police later said they found “multiple guns and various narcotics in the Jeep.”
