(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Niles police say a man is under arrest after allegedly speeding away from police and later claiming to Chicago police that he’d been carjacked and kidnapped.
Niles Police say shortly before 2 a.m. Friday one of their officers tried to make a traffic stop in the 7100 block of North Caldwell. The SUV didn’t stop and sped away, blowing stop signs in the process.
Police did not pursue the vehicle, which later crashed in Chicago. Chicago police told Niles authorities the man falsely claimed to have been carjacked and kidnapped.
Wilfredo Monge, 25, of Chicago is charged with misdemeanor fleeing/attempting to elude police.
