(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico said he won’t run for re-election in 2023.
In a statement posted to social media, Chirico, first elected in 2015, said it’s time to let someone else to chart the course of the west suburban city.
He said he looks forward to sharing in Naperville’s successes — just from a different vantage point.
“Over the past eight years, we’ve been through a lot as a world, country, and community, including a global pandemic and, closer to home, a natural disaster. But now it’s time,” Chirico said in announcing his departure.
He touted several accomplishments during his tenure, including decreased city debt and his efforts to develop business.
