BOLINGBROOK (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A relatively quiet block in the Cherrywood subdivision in Bolingbrook was the scene of a triple-murder Sunday night, and police said a suspect has been arrested.

Police identified two of the victims on Monday: Cartez Daniels, a 40-year-old man, and Samiya Shelton-Tillman, a 17-year-old girl. Authorities said they have not identified of the third victim. The suspect, police said, is a 17-year-old boy who was believed to have been in a relationship with Shelton-Tillman.

Neighbors are talking about the violence that erupted in their community.

Anthony and Melinda Taylor live in a cul-de-sac near the house on Lee Lane where the three people were killed and one person was wounded. They said that house, in particular, has been a chronic problem in recent years.

“We moved out here 24-years-ago. Nice neighborhood. I told my mother this morning I live in Englewood,” said Anthony Taylor.

Karen lives a couple of doors down from where the four people were shot. She said she did not hear the gunshots.

“The first time we knew anything was going on was when the street was lined with police cars and there were, I know I saw at least four ambulances lined up down the street, but apart from that, we didn’t hear anything. We didn’t know anything was going on. We were surprised,” Karen said.

Karen preferred not to give her last name. She also said she would not recognize the residents of the house where the shooting happened if she saw them.

Bolingbrook police said they were called to the house for a possible home invasion about 8:15 last night.  That’s when officers saw four people shot.  A man, a woman and a girl were dead. Another woman was wounded and taken to a hospital to be treated. Her condition has not yet been made public.

Valley View School District 365, in Romeoville, released a statement confirming that two of the victims were VVSD students. The school said its crisis intervention team would be available to help with the needs of students, parents and school personnel.
