(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Two new police dogs in the north suburbs now have names, thanks to suggestions from students.

Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli of the Lake County Sheriff's Office says after receiving nearly 4,000 suggestions from students, the names that were chosen were Axel and Echo.

Covelli says all four students who had a hand in the naming are invited to what he calls the "swearing-in" ceremony for the K-9s in late June, after the dogs complete their initial training.
