Nine people shot, one fatally, in North Lawndale: Chicago police

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — One woman was killed, and eight other people were wounded in a single shooting in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood early Sunday morning.

Chicago police said a group of women were out near 15th Street and Keeler Avenue a little before 1 a.m. when a black Jeep pulled up. Multiple gunmen got out of the vehicle and started firing.

A 21-year-old woman was shot in the face and later died at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Police said a 28-year-old woman was shot eight times and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. Seven others, with ages ranging from 20 – 33, were listed in good condition with gunshot wounds.

Chicago police are still looking for those responsible.
