(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Illinois State Police say a 20-year-old Chicago man has been arrested for a carjacking Wednesday on the Jane Addams Tollway in Kane County.
The agency said the carjacking happened late in the morning on eastbound I-90, not far from Higgins Road and that the victim was a Lyft driver.
They say the driver had pulled over on the shoulder.
Authorities say at that point that a passenger, 20-year-old Wanya Carter Wilkins, decided to pull out a gun. When the Lyft driver returned to his vehicle, Carter Wilkins allegedly forced him out along with the three passengers.
A short time later, state police said, Carter Wilkins crashed the car farther east on the Jane Addams Tollway. He was arrested and is being held without bond on felony vehicular hijacking charges.
