Illinois is reporting more than 3,000 new COVID cases, which is the biggest daily tally in five months, not counting one day last month when officials were catching up with a backlog of tests.
The Illinois Department of Public Health on Thursday reported 3,059 new cases of coronavirus. That high number comes as the state processed more than 72,000 tests, almost a record, officials said.
The statewide positivity rate ticked up slightly to 3.7%, which is still considered a low percentage, compared to many states struggling with surges in COVID hospitalizations.
Thirty-two new deaths were reported.
