Police seek driver in fatal hit-and-run on West Side

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Chicago police are looking for the driver of a sedan who fatally struck a pedestrian late Sunday on the city’s West Side.

The unidentified pedestrian -- a 49-year-old woman -- was hit around 11 p.m. at 1200 S. Independence Blvd. The driver of the car that struck the person – a Gray 2014 Kia Optima – fled northbound without stopping or contacting emergency services, police said.

Police say the car has severe front-end damage.
