CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Residents of Ravenswood are designating a block captain after a violent week that saw two shootings and a string of armed robberies in the normally quiet neighborhood.
When people heard sirens and helicopters last Monday as police were chasing four armed robbery suspects, they weren’t finding solid information in their neighborhood group chats.
Block Club Chicago reported the Ravenswood Neighborhood Association is designating one person to reach out to police and aldermen in such situations.
Laine Rivas told the site it was due to a lack of communication and something akin to an amber alert should go out to tell neighbors about police activity and if they should stay inside.
