ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Rolling Meadows City Council went ahead with Mayor Joe Gallo’s recommendation Tuesday night, and voted to move to fire the city manager, who sued the mayor and the city earlier this week.
Rolling Meadows City Manager Barry Krumstok is now on paid administrative leave as the city attorney prepares a notice of termination for him. According to the Daily Herald, aldermen voted 5-2 to fire him on the advice of Mayor Joe Gallo.
It is Gallo, Krumstok claimed in a lawsuit, who is retaliating against Krumstok for investigating and determining allegations were true that Gallo had harassed a female member of the city council. Krumstok also claimed Gallo complained when Krumstok took off Jewish holidays.
Krumstok has seven months on his contract that govsalaries.com said is worth $217,000 in salary and benefits.
Gallo has named city Finance Director Melissa Gallagher acting city manager.
