WAUKEGAN, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Waukegan Police will resume their search tomorrow for a missing sailor from the Great Lakes Naval Station.
Seamus Gray, 21, a sailor was last seen in the early hours of Saturday morning. He was last seen leaving the Ibiza bar in Waukegan around 1:30 a.m. on March 18.
Gray who is from Jupiter, Florida did not return to the base and has not been seen since.
Waukegan police deputy chief Brian Mullen said they have been searching the area near the bar and along the lake Michigan shoreline by land and by airborne drone.
"The search is wrapped up early, because after making numerous passes on land and air, it was determined that our resources have kind of been exhausted a little bit today. I also want to emphasize that the search didn't just start today; We were out on here all day yesterday."
Gray's mother Carey Gray made a tearful plea for information about her son's whereabouts.
"Anybody who has any information about my son Seamus, please come forward."
Waukegan police and fire, Lake County officials, and the U.S. Navy are taking part in the search.
Authorities have surveillance video of the 21-year-old walking outside of a bar on Genesee Street at about 1:40 a.m.
The 6-foot-3-inches man is shown wearing a pink long sleeve shirt and pants. Police said he weighs about 170 pounds and has blue eyes, brown hair and multiple tattoos on this left arm.
