Shooting on CTA bus sends 34-year-old man to hospital

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 34-year-old man was shot on a Chicago Transit Authority bus Wednesday afternoon in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Authorities said the shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. near 81st Street and South Cottage Grove Avenue.

The victim was in a verbal altercation with the alleged shooter, police said, and a physical struggle ensued while the victim was in the doorway of the bus. Officials said that’s when the offender produced a handgun and shot the 34-year-old in his stomach.

The man is being treated at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

No information was provided regarding any arrests.
