TINLEY PARK, IL (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - We’re learning more about what allegedly led a 42-year old Tinley Park man to kill his teenage daughter in their home last week.
According to court documents, Mohammed Almaru beat to death his 17-year old daughter Mia Maro with a metal pole and a rubber mallet. Maro had told friends and family that her father had given her permission to attend last Friday night’s Andrew High School senior prom, and had even picked out the dress she could wear. But, the day before the dance, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office said Almaru told his daughter he didn’t trust her and withdrew his permission.
Earlier that week, the girl had gotten into a fender-bender with her dad’s car. Court documents said she texted her sister about it and said her dad was going to beat her and that she was afraid he’d kill her.
The girl was found dead over the weekend in the family’s home on 167th Street in Tinley Park. Prosecutors say Almaru tried but failed to commit suicide. He’s being held without bond.
