HINSDALE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Tuesday, relatives and friends said goodbye to Sean Richards, the 14-year-old who was hit by a car in a Hinsdale sandwich shop. Now, there's been a lawsuit filed in the case.
Kristine Richards said she had a special mother-son bond with Sean.
“He still gave me many hugs because he knew how much they meant to me. On the day of the accident, I gave him a big bear hug that morning. He had been away at Boys Scout camp the week before, so I told him, ‘I missed these hugs and I can tell you are definitely getting taller,’” she recalled at her son’s funeral Tuesday at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church.
Three survivors of the accident are suing the family of the 16-year-old who was driving when the Jeep ran into a sub shop and the carwash where he worked. They said he acted recklessly and did not have proper training.
“Words cannot describe the pain that I feel right now, and I know it will never go away. That’s ok. It’s worth this pain to have been Sean’s mother,” Richards said.
