Suspect tried to rob, undo pants of CTA rider, police say

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police are seeking a suspect accused of trying to rob and undo the pants of a female CTA rider.

The victim was riding a Brown Line train around 9 a.m. on June 24 when a man approached her, demanded money and pushed her onto a seat, Chicago police said in a community alert issued Tuesday. The incident occurred downtown in the 200 block of North State Street.

The suspect attempted to “go into the victim’s pockets and undo her pants,” police said, but the woman was able to push him away and escape.

Police distributed two surveillance images of the suspect from CTA security cameras.

Chicago's transit system recently has been the setting for several attacks, including shootings.
