CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Lake County Sheriff’s office is seeking help from the public in identifying a woman’s whose body was found in Lake Michigan last weekend.
The woman's body was found by a fisherman about three miles off Waukegan last Sunday, the same day the body of a man was found off Lake Forest.
She's described as Black, 5 feet 4 and weighing about 160 pounds. She was wearing a pink summer dress, her fingernails and toenails were painted white and the sheriff's office said she was about six months pregnant.
Authorities said they believe she was in the lake for about a week, not much longer. And the sheriff's office said she could have gone in anywhere between Indiana and Northern Illinois.
The man whose body was found the same day some miles away, and they don't believe there's any connection, drowned on Chicago's South Side at 63rd Street on Aug. 8. He's identified his 49-year-old Martin Mendoza of Waukesha, Wisconsin.
The sheriff's office has released a sketch of the woman on his Facebook page.
