CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Chicago Board of Elections provided a midday update on voting in the city today-calling it a relatively smooth process so far.

Max Bever of the board of elections said the understaffing at polling places that happened during the primary election has not been an issue this time around. Only a few instances of late openings.

One item that voters have expressed concerns about is the use of felt pens or sharpies bleed through the ballot.

The pen given to voters at the polling place is the one to use…and if you experienced bleed-through, not to worry.

"Any ballot that's marked and a voter wants to try again, or do it again, or gets damaged in any way that ultimately gets spoiled, it gets stored away in a separate envelope," said Bever.

There have also been two dozen instances of voters not receiving the required two ballots. That number is 312-269-7870-a voter advocate will help. The board said most of these issues have already been remedied.

"If a voter does think that this happened to them-that they only see one ballot, please call election central," Bever added.

That number is 312-269-7870. A voter advocate can help with any issues and the board said most of these issues have already been remedied.
