CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- There apparently will be water taxi services along the Chicago River and the lakefront this summer, but not necessarily for the work week crowd.
The city’s two boat tour companies provided water taxi services last summer-running limited weekend service for tourists. According to the Chicago Tribune, that’s what appears likely for this summer as well.
If more people start returning downtown to work during the week, there’s a chance water taxis will resume then. Wendella’s Chicago Water Taxi is expected to resume on weekends later this month with stops in along the Riverwalk, at Madison Street near the Ogilvie Transportation Center and Union Station, in Chinatown and at Michigan Avenue.
