West Loop fatal hit-and-run being investigated as a homicide

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Sunday morning’s hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian in the West Loop is thought to be intentional, according to detectives.

A 22-year-old man, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as Enrique Martinez of Edgewater, was walking south on the sidewalk of Ogden near Warren at around 5:15 a.m. when he was struck by a dark colored sedan, police said. Martinez died at the scene.

Detectives said they are investigating the incident as a homicide.
