CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 31-year-old woman has been arrested and accused of hitting a Chicago police officer in West Garfield Park on Sunday — before other officers were attacked by dogs.

Chicago police said officers were trying to make an arrest at about 11:20 a.m. near Wilcox Street and Pulaski Road when Vernia Jones “became aggressive” with officers.

During the altercation, police said someone released two dogs, who then bit the three officers. An officer shot one of the dogs, and the officers were taken to the hospital in good condition.

It's not clear what condition the dogs are in.

Jones was charged with one felony count of aggravated battery to a police officer and two misdemeanor counts of resisting a police officer.
