WHEELING (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police are investigating the shooting of a man and a woman early Sunday morning at an intersection in Wheeling.
The man and woman were in a relationship and both stationed at Naval Station Great Lakes, according to Wheeling Police, but did not live on the base or together. The Daily Herald reported the man’s roommate said the couple had been arguing outside his apartment building before the bodies were found with gunshot wounds on the road at around 4:50 a.m., at the intersection of Lakeview Drive and Buffalo Grove Road. Police found a handgun at the scene.
The department said in a statement that they do not believe there is a greater threat to the community. Autopsy results are still pending.
