(104.3 The Score) The Bears will re-sign reserve quarterback Case Keenum on a two-year deal, a source said Monday.
Keenum, 38, didn't play in a game in the 2025 season but was an instrumental part of the Bears' locker room and quarterbacks room. He was brought in to be a mentor for 24-year-old starter Caleb Williams and earned strong praise from the team.
"He’s been an integral part of what we’ve done," Bears head coach Ben Johnson said in January. "He’s been tremendous is terms of Caleb’s growth. That was really the thought process of bringing him in, is, a guy with skins on the wall. He’s played in big games himself at a high level. He’s won big games, he’s lost big games, his experience has been something that all these young players can really lean into.
"The vision we had bringing him in, it’s been pretty incredible. I give (general manager Ryan Poles) a lot of credit for that. We’re talking about in the springtime, how do we best help our young quarterback grow and develop? Case’s name came up pretty quickly in that process. It’s just been a phenomenal fit. And yet I know that if he ever needed to play, he could still play at a high level, too. We see that every day at practice as well."
Keenum has been in the NFL since 2012, when he signed with the Texans as an undrafted free agent.
The Bears' quarterback group includes Williams, Keenum and backup Tyson Bagent. The team has received trade calls on Bagent.
