(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The anti-Semitic white nationalist at the center of a controversial dinner with former President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago last week has his roots in the Chicago area.

Nick Fuentes graduated in 2016 from Lyons Township High School, didn’t finish college and, at one point, regularly live streamed a show from the basement of his parents’ home in LaGrange Park.

On one of his shows, the 24-year-old Fuentes said he thought the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was, in his words, “awesome,” and that Trump was, too.

“Trump was awesome because he was racist,” Fuentes said. “Trump was awesome because he was sexist. The only thing that Trump wasn’t awesome for was being anti-Semitic. He wasn’t anti-Semitic, but the rest was awesome.”

Fuentes said, “People have got to get racist,” in another episode of his show.

In comments to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Anti-Defamation League said Fuentes is a “vicious bigot.”
